How Do I Connect Pytes E-Box 48100R or V5 Batteries to Any Inverter Using Open Loop Communication?

Open loop communication means the inverter and battery don’t directly exchange data, so you need to manually program voltage and current parameters into your inverter. This ensures safe and optimal operation of your Pytes battery, even without a closed-loop (CAN/RS485) connection.

Use the settings below to connect Pytes E-Box 48100R or V5 series batteries to any inverter using open loop communication.

Before You Begin:

  • This guide is for open loop setups — use it when your inverter does not support direct communication with Pytes batteries.

  • You must manually enter all voltage and current values into your inverter's battery settings menu.

  • If your inverter includes a temperature sensor, disconnect it, as temperature compensation is not used with Pytes batteries.

Step-by-Step Configuration Guide

Step 1: Set Charging Parameters

Enter the following charging values into your inverter:

Setting Value
Bulk/Absorb Voltage 56.8V
Float Voltage 56.0V
Absorb Time < 15 minutes
Equalization Disabled
Temperature Compensation Disabled

Step 2: Set Discharge and Protection Limits

Configure your inverter’s battery discharge settings as follows:

Setting Value
Low Battery Cut Out/Disconnect (LBCO) 49.0V
Low Battery Warning 50.0V
Low Battery Restart/Recovery 51.0V
High Battery Cut Out/Disconnect 58.0V
High Voltage Restart/Recovery 56.0V

Step 3: Set Current Limits

To avoid overloading the battery, apply the correct charge/discharge current limits based on the battery model and quantity:

  • E-Box 48100R:
    Maximum Charge/Discharge Current = 50A * per battery

  • V5 Series:
    Maximum Charge/Discharge Current = 75A * per battery

Final Checks

  • Double-check all settings match the table above.

  • Disconnect any temperature sensor to disable temp compensation.

  • Save your inverter settings and reboot if required.

  • Monitor battery voltage and current to ensure safe operation.
